Description
CANX (also called calnexin) is a calcium-binding molecular chaperone protein that is involved in facilitating the assembly and folding of newly synthesized N-linked glycoproteins. It is a stress-induced protein located in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. It is also found in melanosomes, where it appears to be involved in melanosome biogenesis. CANX is broadly expressed in normal and diseased tissues, and expression may be increased or decreased in certain types of cancers.
