CD10 (Neprilysin, MME, CALLA) is a membrane-bound, zinc-dependent metalloprotease that functions to inactivate glucagon, oxytocin, bradykinin and other peptide hormones. It also degrades and thus regulates amyloid beta peptide. In immunohistochemistry, CD10 acts as a marker for acute lymphoblastic leukemias, lymphoblastic lymphomas, Burkitt’s lymphoma, and CML. CD10 shows membranous staining and is positive in tonsil germinal center B-cells and neutrophils. In cancer, it is positive in follicular lymphomas, Burkitt's lymphomas and leukemias, precursor B-cell lymphomas, renal clear cell carcinomas, and endometrial stromal sarcomas.
