G protein-coupled receptor 17 (GPR17) is a dual specificity receptor for uracil nucleotides and cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLTs). It signals through G(i) and inhibition of adenylyl cyclase. GPR17 mediates brain damage by nucleotides and CysLTs following ischemia. In immunohistochemistry, GPR17 has membranous positivity on astrocytes throughout the brain and nervous system and in populations of immune cells.
