The A2b Adenosine Receptor is a target of theophylline and enprofylline in the treatment of asthma. In lung mast cells, A2b receptors are associated with the release of inflammatory mediators. They can also bind the axonal chemoattractant netrin-1 (Corset et al., 2000). Netrin-1-dependent outgrowth of axons in the dorsal spinal cord directly involves the adenosine A2b receptor and may involve a receptor complex containing the DCC (deleted in colorectal cancer) protein and adenosine A2b receptor.
