Complement component 3a receptor 1 (C3AR1) mediates the effects of the inflammatory mediator anaphylatoxin C3a, which is released during complement activation. C3AR1 stimulates chemotaxis, granule enzyme release, and superoxide anion production. It also regulates glial cell activation, may be involved in the pathogenesis of asthma, and may promote cell repair.
