Specifications

Description
Fractalkine (CX3CL1) is a chemokine with a unique CX3C motif. Fractalkine is synthesized in endothelial cells as a membrane protein, and the N-terminal domain containing a CX3C motif is cleaved and secreted. Fractalkine is the first described cell-surface anchored chemokine and has potent mononuclear cell-directed adhesion and chemotactic properties. Fractalkine is involved in the pathogenesis of various chronic inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and atherosclerosis. References: The UniProt Consortium.
